7 Years Ago Today

My dad walked me down the aisle.
It was the best day of my life.
And the beginning of my very OWN life journey.

Before I walked down the aisle, however, fate played out
just as it was supposed to.
With so many impacting cause and effects.
For example,
Steve wrote this in 1996
During his Senior Year of High School
To be opened in 2006, ten years later.

And 10 years later, it has all come true.

Is that not so incredible?
I had to frame this.
And put it in our living room.
In his own handwriting.
It is so beautiful to read.

He has EVERYTHING on his wish list.
How many people can say that?

Before we got married on October 12, 2002 we were
JUST FRIENDS
in college.

Here we are in VEGAS.
He joined me and my whole family to watch my twin sister's softball games,
as they were in a tournament there.
He was one of my best friends this summer and several years prior.

Then a few months later we had our first OUTING as a real couple.
This was at his brother's wedding that fall.

And since I LOVE
LOVE
LOVE
LOVE
LOVE
engagement stories,
I thought I would share ours.

Lots of pictures courtesy of the greatest Aunt ever.
My aunt Pat.
She was in on the entire thing.

We headed down to Busch Stadium,
the ORIGINAL and
FIRST one,
where I thought we were buying some Cardinals Winter Warm Up tickets.

After Steve drove about 90 mph to get there "on time"
we hopped out of the car only to be escorted away by the head of the Cardinals Public Relations, Marty Hendin.

I think I told him 12 times that I would LOVE to have his job.
He was not interested.
Anyway, Marty tells us we have been set up with a private tour or Busch Stadium.

What?
I thought, how cool!
I guess my Aunt Pat's boss hooked us up since he knows so many people.
Little did I know that STEVE set it all up!

We eventually made it on to
THE field.
When I was FAKE swinging my bat at home plate,
Steve grabbed my hand.

I thought to myself,
what the heck is he doing interrupting my swing?

But then he quickly knelt down on one knee
and pulled out a big diamond.

Since we were on "one of my favorite big diamonds"

he thought I needed my "own big diamond."

Look at my face.
I almost threw up.
Shocked beyond belief.

I hugged him.
Still in shock.

I finally said YES after the three people up in the stands were yelling what my answer was.
YES!

Showing off my BLING.

Celebrating afterwards at a very NICE restaurant
with Champagne courtesy of my Aunt Pat's wonderful boss, Rich.

We were SO under dressed by the way.

All of us at the restaurant.

Steve, me and my Aunt Pat
Rich and his wife Kathie.

Back at Steve's condo my dad was
CHECKING OUT
my new ring!

After 10 months of being engaged,
we said our vows.

And walked through bubbles.

And posed by Stan the Man

at Busch Stadium.

Me and my sisters pose after the wedding.

Steve spinning me around the dance floor.

We did the TRAIN and started a fun tradition that night.

It was the perfect day!

And has been the best 7 years.

It has gone so quickly.

I wish I could freeze time.

But we have so much to be thankful and have achieved so much in 7 years.

A home.
A family.
Traditions.
And a strong bond no one else will ever know.

Here is to 77 more years with you Steve.

Happy Anniversary Stevie!
