Pumpkins, a Vampire, a Peacock and a Little Duck.

102_3910

We carved pumpkins Sunday night, finally, after weeks of the girls asking when we’d get to do it.

102_3911 102_3914

Each grew got to draw their own faces this year.                 Mia was ready to scoop out the guts!
(Of course Sophie’s had eyelashes.)

Our resident carver.

102_3919

Gracie went for all circles this year.

102_3926

Last night was Halloween!
We had a scary vampire, a sweet little Ducky and a pretty peacock!

102_3920 102_3923

My sister Maggie came over with her fiancĂ© Austin and brought the girls some goodies.
She also helped add some wire to Sophie’s much requested “stick-up-in-the-air braid.”

102_3929

Can you tell how much they love their Aunt Maggie?

102_3930

Spooktacular!

Peacocks get make-up too!

Quack!

Hope you all had a very happy Halloween!

A $4 Halloween Decoration

 img_0939

Who doesn’t love a little spooky Halloween decor?
I sure do! And for $4, you should too.

What you’ll need:
1.) One old window (selected from the two I’ve had sitting in my computer room for weeks waiting for a fun project) that your sweet sister gave you when her  house was being renovated.
Or, if you don’t have a stellar sister getting a brand new rad house, then you can also find old windows at garage sales, on Craigslist or antique shops for really cheap.
2.) Some super cute Martha Stewart Halloween themed “clings” that are on sale for 40% off.

Stick the removable and reusable clings on the window glass….

img_0969

…add some cheesecloth on the corner of the window to look like spider webs
(then later make super cool ghosts to dangle on your chandy using something new to me, Stiffy)

img_0970

..and top things off by ordering a super fun dangly spider runner off eBay for $10 with free shipping.

Viola.
Spooky.  Fun.  Festive.
For $4.

Have fun!

Trick or Treat 2010

This year was our first time trick or treating in our new neighborhood and I must say, the girls had a blast. They were able to hand out candy to their friends for the first time and thought that was so much fun.
Gracie’s favorite part was the Ghostbusters music I had blaring in the background.

100_2047

This year we had an Equestrian Champion, Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz and a Pink Flamingo. What a combo.

100_2045

They were so excited Halloween was finally here!

100_2050

Steve loaded up the trailer with some hay bales and pulled us around our subdivision. I have a feeling that this may be our new Halloween tradition. Our houses are really spread out and we have some major hills.
Good for my workouts.
Bad for our 2, 4 and 6 year old walking and hauling candy in costume shoes.

100_2064

Can you guess what I was this year?
Hint: It’s the same as what I was last year.

100_2065

Mia and a sneaky spy.

100_2068

Sophie with her best friend Lily dressed as Cinderella, who joined us on our hayride.

100_2067

And finally, an action shot of the cutest trick or treaters I’ve ever seen.
Hope you all had a wonderful Halloween!

Labor Day Laughs

We road tripped two hours to my sister Haley’s house last weekend to celebrate Labor Day.

100_1002

On Saturday night we undoubtedly ended up at Haley and Jimmy’s pub, where Gracie happily rocked her SIU t-shirt dress that Haley made all my girls back in April.

100_0995

Adie (aka Preggy: due in March with baby #2) and Hales are all smiles at Pinch Penny Pub.

100_1007

Sophie at the Pub, also sporting a t-shirt dress that I made her out of Daddy’s old tees, chugged some Sprite.
(This is definitely my girls’ favorite treat that they get once in a blue moon when we dine at restaurants!)

Me and my sister Maggie’s fiancĂ©, Austin.
Self taken photo. Standard.

On Sunday, the boys golfed.

100_1012

And the girls walked across the street from Haley’s house to a park.
I love the easy access park situation.
Almost as much as I love the hand holding situation.

100_1029

Gracie loved this green slide.
And I loved the fact that she wouldn’t take off these sweet shades.

100_1030

Little Meade was all smiles.

100_1035

And speaking of smiles, here is my favorite picture of the day.
Haley’s daughter Ella and my Sophie, posing at the park.

100_1033

Tyler bravely tried out the green slide.

100_1041

Then a race.

100_1048

And another race.

As we re-entered Haley’s gigantic front yard, Mimo raced all the girls (non-strollered kids) to the front porch.

100_1050

It was hilarious.
Run girls, run!

100_1051

An after race shot of the girls on the front porch.

I hope you that all of you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend that was full of laughs as well!

Fireworks & Pink Hair

100_0216

After Mia’s game last Saturday, there was a random fireworks display that started just as we
were loading up the girls in the Suburban.

100_0209

We sat down on the sidewalk, right beside my old Elementary School and watched.
Gracie was in awe.

100_0222

There’s nothing better than a surprise fireworks display.

pink streak

Except for the new pink streak in my hair.
(Yes, I am 30, with a pink streak. Don’t be jealous!)

 100_0186

Last Friday, my sister Maggie came over and blonded me, free of charge,
and threw in a bonus pink streak, just like hers.

(Sorry for the scary no makeup picture!)

maggie pink streak

Can you guess which two little blondies now want a fun summer pink streak of their own?

100_9888

Mia and Sophie of course!
(I told them, maybe when they are 30 like me.)

pink streak julie roberts

But, really, who doesn’t want a fun streak of color these days?
Julia Roberts is older than me and is totally rocking a pink streak.

pink streak rachel 2

And who doesn’t love Rachel McAdams?
Even though I could never go this PINK, I think it fits her perfectly.

100_0197

So our Saturday night at the ballpark last weekend was filled with slushies, ring pops, fireworks and a pink streak.
What could be better than that?

100_0215

Sophie even had her “fireworks” pillowcase dress on!
Perfection!

St. Louis 4th of July

I hope that you all have a fabulous 4th of July weekend and get the chance to watch lots and lots of fireworks.
(And maybe even put a pink streak in your hair!)

Happy 4th of July!
