Rodeo Fun!

Yee Haw Everyone!

Every fall our local fire department has a rodeo fundraiser.

Since my mom works at one of the firehouses,

(she does all their accounting)

she helps with the chili booth every year.

YUM.

Not to mention, she gets to butt in line to get me a tasty fresh FUNNEL CAKE!

Illegal butting in line, yes, but even more YUM.

The girls were extra pumped this year to see all the horses, bulls, cows & calves.

I get teary eyed whenever I actually "watch" the Rodeo so I usually just eat and chat.

Recycled T-Shirt Dress

I am so proud to say that I SEWED,

all by myself,

my first real article of clothing,

from actual pieces of fabric,

that I cut out myself!

I made the cutest Recycled T-Shirt dress for Mia!

But basically, I cut up four old t-shirts that were just sitting in our closets,

& made a FUN super cute outfit for Mia to wear for Spirit Week at her school!

It was "Wear Your Favorite Sports Team Apparel" Day!

Of course she wanted to wear, none other than, MICHIGAN GEAR!

(Aunt Maggie plays softball there & Mia is her biggest fan!)

Baked Corn Recipe by Popular Demand

Just a warning.

This recipe is...

Super Easy

Super Fast

Super Tasty

&

Perfect for every weekend get-together you will ever have!

I made it several times this summer

(even though it's a hot dish)

and got several compliments on how yummy it was.

I found the recipe in my sister's select softball team's

cookbook called "Chaos in the Kitchen."

It was my sister's good friend Kristy's mom's recipe.
So I thank you Barb for putting this wonderful recipe in the

Chaos Cook Book.

I see why it is your brother's favorite!

Some of my new blog friends, that have made it,

told me I must blog this easy recipe.

So here goes.......(sorry no pictures!)

Yum-O Baked Corn

Ingredients Needed:

Can of Corn, Drained

Can of Cream Style Corn

3 oz Sour Cream

1 Cup Melted Butter (see why this is so Yummy?)

2 Eggs, Beaten

1 Box Corn Muffin Mix (I use regular size Jiffy)

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350.

Combine the two corns, sour cream, melted butter, beaten eggs & corn muffin mix.

Mix Well & Poor into 9 x 13 baking pan & bake 35-40 minutes.

And that's it!!!

So easy I could make every night.
Some weeks I do.
It's really that good.

Sister Love & P. Diddy's Hat

Look who came in town a few weeks ago!

My youngest sister Maggie!

She had a weekend off so she flew in from Michigan.

And guess who surprised her at the airport?

Her boyfriend Austin!

And soon after getting to mom and dad's house, they hijacked my camera.

(who are renovating their entire living room if you can tell from the photos)

had some of our family over for Chili & Family Fun.

And by family fun, I mean OUR FAMILY fun.

(It's quite a bit different from most families typical get together)

We do things such as....

to grab a fun hat for a picture.

Finally they had lift off.


And she got it!

*The story behind the hats....
My dad got me and my three sisters all fun, cool cat,
hats last year for Christmas.

A few weeks ago he made several comments about how he hasn't seen
any of us wearing the hats he gave us.

Me and my sisters plotted to all wear them to our
party when Maggie came in town.

Adie forgot.....
Boo.
Maggie couldn't find hers......
Double Boo.

So, to complete our "four sister matching hat look,"
we needed to grab a couple similar ones down from my mom's
stash of antique hats that used to be her Grandpas.

Thus, the hoisting.

And the result:

While Maggie was grabbing at hats,
she pulled a special one down along with the others.

My sister Haley then reenacted "the catch"

P. Diddy threw this white hat into the crowd at a radio station multiple artist concert years ago.
Haley boxed out, jumped up super high, and caught this beauty.

I watched it happen several rows in front of me.

I was so impressed and proud of my sister!

What a fun night with my CRAZY family!

I love them all so much!

Gracie had so much fun giggling with Grandpa while still recovering from her hospital stay.

To me, there is nothing more important in this world than FAMILY.

I am so thankful for the FUN & CRAZY one that I get to call MY OWN.

7 Things You Might Not Know About Me:

1.) I am 5 feet 11 inches tall. Love being tall, but not taller than EVERYONE when I enter a room. I get asked "How tall are you, anyway?" about 50 times every time I go out.

2.) I have 3 sisters, and LOVE it. Two are twins, Adie and Haley and they are now 27. I am the oldest, 30. And the youngest, Maggie, is 21. Maggie and I call ourselves the "other twins."

3.) My dad played professional baseball. He got drafted in the second round right out of high school. SO STELLAR. Now he gives hitting lessons, even to my girls, on a weekly basis. My mom was a TRAMPOLINIST in high school. Don't be jealous... this is where me and my sisters inherited our trampoline skills :)

4.) My maiden name is VIEFHAUS. That is where the HAUS in Haus of Girls comes from. Very German family background.

5.) I played Softball, Basketball and Track throughout high school. HORRIFIC at Basketball even though I am almost 6 feet tall! Got a softball scholarship to Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and loved every minute of it. Guess who joined me there my senior year? My twin sisters Adie & Haley! So excited I got to play with them again, just like we did in high school. Our lineup was one, two , three HAUS!

6.) After college, I worked as a Private Investigator for five years. I saw the craziest, most unbelievable stuff. I loved it. We followed cheating husbands & wives, served divorce papers, followed the people who filed worker's compensation claims, took pictures of vehicle accident sites, background checks and so much more. It was such a great job, but it had crazy hours at times. Going from two children to three got a little too hectic so now I am home with my crazy girls!

7.) I can somewhat speak German. I took FIVE years of it through Middle & High School. Me and my sisters would always talk to each other in German and annoy my mom. We used to do it the grocery stores also, when we were younger, and trick other shoppers into thinking we were foreigners. Oh the memories.....

Our Annual October Weekend of Bliss

Every second Sunday in October.

This is when my entire family,

and our husbands' families,

and our friends

all get together in the cute little town of

Augusta.

Augusta is filled with:

vineyards,

antique shops,

rolling hills of trees changing color,

horses,

cows,

pumpkin patches,

&

family history.

My great-grandfather (my mom's grandpa) & family grew up there.

My dad's father & family grew up there.

What a small world.

All I know is that I wish I grew up there.

So.

Beautiful.
