Dance Recital 2011

My girls had their dance recital this past weekend.  It was such a fun and special weekend of glitz and glamour!  Make-up, wavy/curly hair, fancy lime green and pink costumes, ruffles and zebra.
Seriously, what could be better?

Thank you to my sister Maggie and her fiancé Austin for coming to support our girls!

And a fun shot with Mimo and Grandpa.

Our little family, and a not so little hole in Mia’s tights.

After day two of the recital, a fun trip to Red Robin with Nana and Papa!

100_3372

Thank you Nana and Papa for coming to watch Mia and Sophie on the big stage and for their fun books!

This is one of  my new favorite photos by the way.
Adorable.

It’s after their performance on Sunday.  Mia’s already changed into her uniform, because a weekend wouldn’t be complete without a 6 pm recital on Saturday followed by Applebee’s with Mimo and Grandpa getting home around 10:30 pm, then another show on Sunday at 2 pm followed by Red Robin with Nana and Papa, then heading off to Mia’s 6 pm softball game!
An on-the-go and exhausting weekend?  Yes.
But so worth the chaos for all the fun.

A Day of Firsts

100_1068

Sophie started her second year of Preschool yesterday.

Last year, when she turned three, she went twice a week.
But this year, she’s in the big girl Pre-K four year old class, and will be going three times a week.
I still can’t believe it.

It’s amazing to me how fast the past few years have gone by.
She’s gotten to be such a big girl.
So big, in fact, that her cute blonde hair is long enough (after falling out at age two) to finally fit in “Dorothy braids.“

The backpack shot.
One of my all time faves.

And yesterday was another first.
The girls’ first day of dance class!

I must admit that I was a bit sad that they would be in different classes this year. (Especially when Sophie cried a few tears at the thought of not being in her big sister’s class.)
But they put my concerns at ease when they both came out of their individual classes smiling ear to ear looking forward to another fun year with their friends that they have made at the dance studio over the past few years.

Showing off their tap shoes and leotards.

Honestly, what is more adorable than those two items?
Shiny black tap shoes and perfect pink leotards. Love.

I hope that you all have a toe tapping fun Thursday!

Recital Recap

A few weeks ago my girls had their dance recital.
They were in the same class, so I was super excited to see them TOGETHER on stage.

100_9807

My Grandma Viefhaus joined us, along with my Aunt Pat,  and I thought it
was so cute how Gracie continually attempted to hop up onto their laps and read…in the dark.
Luckily, “Black & White” has no words. Only pictures.

A backstage action shot.
They were rockin’ the mascara don’t you think?

Ready to go on stage!

Mia and Ella, one of her besties from dance class.
Love. This. Picture.

Sister shot.
Sophie is still in that “I like to snuggle for pictures with my sisters” mode.
Mia, not so much.
Why must they grow up?

 100_9808

Sophie spotted Gracie when the show was over, ran straight to her and gave her
the biggest hug ever.
It was so adorable. She loves her little sister so much.
And Gracie, wholeheartedly, loves her right back.

100_9810

Nana and Papa also came to cheer on the girls and gave them some fun
gifts after the show.

100_9812

Here are the tiny dancers along with my Grandma Viefhaus and my Aunt Pat.
Two of my favorite people.
They kindly brought the girls flowers that they both loved so much.

As we headed to our car, I had to get one last shot of the two of them and all
their lime green glory.

And the day was finally complete after getting a few ice cream cones on the way home.

Messy, yes. But it was the perfect ending to such a special day.

Lime Green with Envy

Last night my girls had dance class pictures.
It was a crazy house trying to get them ready:
stockings on,
dresses on,
make up on,
& hair up with the flying saucers in place.

All while trying to care for the other 4 cuties,
changing diapers, getting them snacks,
as their parents were arriving to pick them up!
(Earlier than normal I might add which helped
me tremendously & allowed me to get there on time.)
Yay for that!
I am never on time.
Never.

Mia was "itchy" and wasn't impressed with the flying saucer.
But I finally got a smile.
Bunny teeth & all.
(Her two front teeth are both about to fall out!!!)

Sophie loved the pretty dress.
She kept twirling around as we were getting ready.

The green girls rocking on the front porch.

A cute close-up shot of my girls together.

I am trying to cherish the fact that my girls are in the same class.
Enjoying the lime green matchy cuteness.

This may never happen again, as Mia will most likely
advance into the next level and age group if
she decides to dance next year.
Tears.

Mia and Sophie.
Lovin' the lime.
Lovin' each other.

Because I Never Took Dance.....

I want my girls to.
.

I always complain to my mom that, because of her not putting me in any kind of dance class, I am now the WORLD'S worst dancer.

My sisters: Ballet Class.
(Home Videos and all. Adorable.)
Me: Nada.

My sisters: AWESOME dancers.
Me: Horrific.

So I want to thank you, Mom, for allowing me to suffer through life with NO dance skills.

Totally kidding.

I think I was truly born this horrible of a dancer.

So, due to my personal experiences, my girls will take DANCE for a minimum of two years. At least they will pick up a few moves that will carry them into college.

Last night was their FIRST dance class.
I put them in the SAME class.
How cute will this be?!

Mia's first year of dance was last year so she is a seasoned pro, but for Sophie, this is her first ever dance experience! I am glad she will be with Mia and it will make watching the RECITAL a little easier as well! Instead of 3 or 4 routines to try and catch I will be able to focus on 1 or 2!

Getting ready to go do some Plies!

They love each other so much.

As the big girls danced, Gracie and I chilled outside the studio counting pennies and modeling the new flower headband I made for her.

She got lots of compliments and waved to a lot of nice Moms.
Such fun bonding for us one on one :)

And I had to add these cute pics from this morning.
Mia wanted the "Princess Leia" look today.

A sister hug before heading off to school.

I love these girls.
