three little red Valentine’s Day dresses {a sneak peek}

I made my girls some fun and festive dresses for a Valentine’s Day party at my husband’s parent’s house this past weekend.
It was a sea of red. 

Mia, like I have mentioned is six and a half now and is so over skirts, dresses and most hair accessories these days.  She was a bit skeptical of wearing a dress for the big party. However, when she paired it with some skinny jeans and her new favorite boots from Aunt Adie, she gave it two thumbs up. 
I was relieved, because there’s nothing like taking the time to sew up something fun for her to wear, and then her vetoing it in the end. 
Have I mentioned how excited I am for the teenage years?

I had to throw in this one to remind myself of the long photogenic lacking journey I’ve taken with Gracie.

Sophie was so excited to wear her Dorothy shoes for this red-filled occasion.

I must say, after looking at this picture again, I couldn’t help but sigh and mumble to myself, “Poor Ethan.”

We are back in full swing here at Haus of Girls after a very long, yet much needed, Thanksgiving break.

I did lots o’ sewing for my first craft fair coming up this Saturday….

and also just for fun…..

I made Sophie some fun ruffle leggings….

and a gift for a friend’s sister’s new baby.

And I was even also able to finish, after finally narrowing down some cute fabric and receiving the cuteness in the mail, my girls’ three Christmas dresses.
Just in time for Santa’s visit next Saturday!

I may or may not have gotten breakfast in bed on Thanksgiving morning.

I don’t know who was more excited, me or these two.

We decorated, like I mentioned above, but Gracie also became an even more intense hoarder with a few new items.
Can you say “cow hat?”
It’s really a Dalmatian print, but she thinks it’s cow.
I am not correcting her anytime soon.

The tree all a glow.

We also fit in a road trip to my sister Haley’s house on Saturday to celebrate her husband’s father Frank’s 70th birthday!
It was a fun night filled with cakebread and cake.

December begins in just two days.
My favorite time of year is upon us.
Let the memory making fun begin……

Recycled T-Shirt Dress

I am so proud to say that I SEWED,

all by myself,

my first real article of clothing,

from actual pieces of fabric,

that I cut out myself!

I made the cutest Recycled T-Shirt dress for Mia!

But basically, I cut up four old t-shirts that were just sitting in our closets,

& made a FUN super cute outfit for Mia to wear for Spirit Week at her school!

It was "Wear Your Favorite Sports Team Apparel" Day!

Of course she wanted to wear, none other than, MICHIGAN GEAR!

(Aunt Maggie plays softball there & Mia is her biggest fan!)

I can't wait to make Sophie & Gracie one.

My First Sewing Project.....

Since 7th grade Home-Ec Class.

It was quite scary, but I managed to make a few cute things given I had very few of the sewing essentials handy.

For example I had NO PINS so I used random needles to hold the fabric together.

GHETTO.

Also, NO rotary cutter.

Just an OLD pair of horrific scissors that barely cut toilet paper.

REAL Ghetto.

And this is the result!

A fun crooked CRINKLE taggie toy MICHIGAN STYLE for Gracie.

She wasn't real impressed, but I know I can find another GIRL in this family to pass it down to :)

I also made a crinkle OWL for Gracie.

Pink and Brown, just like her bedroom :)

Thanks to Julie at Joyshope I headed to JoAnns, with her email (pics included! How awesome is she?)and coupons in hand, and bought a few of what she thought were the must haves.

I was then able to make my first article of clothing, a DRESS for Sophie!

It turned out really cute and Sophie was very impressed.

She wanted to wear it all day!

This FUN dress is actually made out of two DISH TOWELS!

Yes, dish towels.

I followed an easy tutorial after seeing it on Angie's FUN blog!

Then made some bows to match and even added a few to my SHOP.

Of course I had to make all of my girls Halloween leg warmers.

Because I am so 80's.

Gracie was not real impressed.

She wanted to play with the BALL instead.

She tried to rip them off a few times.

So NOT 80's of her.

Now I have to get the time to finish Mia and Gracie's dresses.

A white ghost for Gracie and Purple Cat for Mia.

So FUN!
